North Tyneside Council is looking to recruit an experienced trauma therapist to support our children, young people and families within our multi-agency HIVE Team.
The Hive Team is looking for an experienced trauma therapist, to provide emotional support to children, young people and the network around them. We are a multi-agency team including health, mental health, emotional wellbeing and education professionals. We are a well-established team with a real passion for the work we do.
Knowledge of children's social care, the impact of loss and trauma, post-traumatic stress, complex bereavement and the impact of abuse and domestic violence are vital. We are seeking someone with an excellent track record of engaging children and young people, who often find it hard to trust adults. Experience of working in education settings and across a range of services would be beneficial.
A strong awareness of safeguarding is essential, ideally with an understanding of children's services procedures, and an appreciation of the importance of confidentiality and information sharing. There may be a need to attend care team meetings and review meetings, so candidates will need to be effective communicators and be able to represent the views of the children and young people they work with.
The successful candidate
This is not your average counselling / therapeutic role but team members are well supported and receive regular supervision and training opportunities.
We would love it if you already have trained in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP Level 2 ideally) and / or EMDR but we are happy to provide the training if needed. The ability to offer supervision or a willingness to develop these skills would also be advantageous.
The successful candidate will need to work independently, be proactive and use their initiative. We are looking for someone who is creative and understands the importance of working using a PACE Approach.

Our Carbon Net-Zero 2030 Action Plan
In 2019, North Tyneside Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration set a target to reduce the carbon footprint of the council’s operations, and the borough, by 50% by 2023 and to align to the Government’s net zero target of 2050.
We recognise the significant role we can play in the borough in helping to limit climate change, but we can’t do this alone; we need help from all our residents, businesses, voluntary and community sectors and of course all those who apply and work for us. Together we can make North Tyneside a sustainable place to live and work for everyone in the borough.
