About Us A CLEAN DRIVING LICENCE IS ESSENTIAL

Denbury Care is a newly established, Ofsted Registered, provider of therapeutic residential care for young people aged 6–18 who are under the care of the local authority. While we are a new company, we are led by a highly experienced management team with a strong background in delivering high-quality care and support services.

Our 4-bedded home is located on a peaceful farm, in a beautiful secluded valley near Bishop’s Lydeard, near Taunton, offering a calm and nurturing environment where young people can feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow.

We are dedicated to preparing young people for independence at 18, while supporting their social, emotional, and mental health needs through a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach. Our team is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS checks are part of our safer recruitment process and are required prior to employment.

Join Our Team as a Residential Support Worker or Trainee with transferable skills

(Full Time, Part Time, Bank)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for dedicated, compassionate, and resilient individuals to join our team as Residential Youth Support Workers.

Please note: This role requires full flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, and weekends. Applicants must be able to commit to all shift types as part of a rota to meet the needs of the young people we support.

Flexible Opportunities Available

Full-time: Average 37.5 hours per week (including an average of 2 sleep-ins per week)

Part-time and bank roles also available – please indicate your availability when applying

Shift Patterns

We do Work shifts and these are balanced against the needs of the service and include weekends.

Sleep-In Arrangements:

Sleep-in shifts are not included in your contracted hours but are an expectation and are paid at£50 per night.

If required to work during sleep-in hours, you will be paid at your standard hourly rate

Skills and Knowledge

You’ll need:

Communication: Speak clearly, listen well, and build trust with children of all ages.

Emotional Awareness: Stay calm, patient, and supportive, even during tough situations.

Behaviour Support: Use positive strategies to manage behaviour and keep everyone safe.

Safeguarding: Know how to protect children and follow safety procedures.

Child Development: Understand how children grow and how to support their emotional needs.

Trauma Awareness: Be aware of how trauma affects children and use caring, therapeutic approaches—or be willing to learn.

Teamwork: Work well with colleagues, families, and professionals to support each child.

Record Keeping: Keep clear, accurate notes and use digital systems responsibly.

Transferable Experience Skills from other jobs (like teaching, healthcare, customer service, or parenting) are valuable here.

Willingness to Learn: Be open to training and growing in your role. (Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce is ideal—or be ready to work towards it.)

The ability to drive is required for this role.

Day-to-Day Tasks

Support the individual needs and progress of young people

Provide advice, guidance, and support with all aspects of their lives

Teach daily living skills such as budgeting, shopping, and accessing entitlements

Organise leisure and creative activities in a safe and supportive setting

Help young people deal with challenges and move toward independence

Communicate with professionals and families, and attend meetings as required

Promote health, well-being, and education/employment opportunities

Additional Responsibilities

Encourage young people to provide feedback and have a voice in their care

Maintain high-quality records and contribute to reports and care planning

Participate in household routines and support young people to do the same

Undertake training and ongoing professional development

Attend team meetings, supervision, and appraisals

Follow all health and safety and workplace policies
