Role Overview
The Anodising supervisor is responsible for overseeing anodising operations, ensuring high-quality surface finishing of aluminium components, maintaining production efficiency, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role involves managing staff, processes, and equipment within the anodising department.
Salary / Pricing
- Salary Range: £35,000 – £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- Overtime: Paid at an enhanced overtime rate
- Additional Benefits (if applicable): Pension scheme, holiday allowance, potential performance bonuses
Working Hours
- Standard Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift Patterns: available between 0500-2000 - overtime available and paid at an enhanced rate.
Key Responsibilities: Production & Operations
- Manage day-to-day anodising processes, including cleaning, etching, anodising, colouring, and sealing
- Ensure production targets, deadlines, and quality standards are consistently met
- Monitor workflow and optimise process efficiency
Quality Control
- Ensure all products meet customer specifications and industry standards
- Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures
- Investigate defects and implement corrective actions
Team Supervision
- Supervise, train, and develop anodising operatives and technicians
- Allocate tasks and manage shift schedules
- Promote a positive and safety-focused work culture
Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensure compliance with UK health & safety regulations (e.g. COSHH)
- Manage safe handling and disposal of chemicals
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and lower costs
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Lean manufacturing)
- Maintain and improve process documentation
Equipment & Maintenance
- Oversee maintenance of anodising tanks, rectifiers, and associated equipment
- Coordinate with engineering teams for repairs and upgrades
Customer & Supplier Liaison
- Communicate with customers regarding specifications and technical queries
- Work with suppliers on chemicals, materials, and equipment
Key RequirementsExperience
- Proven experience in anodising or metal finishing (essential)
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Strong understanding of anodising processes and chemistry
Skills
- Leadership and team management
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Knowledge of quality systems (ISO standards preferred)
- Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable Qualifications
- Relevant engineering, manufacturing, or materials qualification (preferred)
- Health & safety certification (e.g. NEBOSH – advantageous)
