Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated IT Helpdesk Technician to provide comprehensive technical support to our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining network infrastructure, and assisting end-users with IT-related queries. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise and develop your skills in a dynamic environment, supporting both Windows and macOS operating systems, as well as various networking protocols. The position is paid and ideal for individuals passionate about delivering exceptional customer service within the IT support sector.

Duties

Provide first-line technical support via help desk systems such as ServiceNow and Jira, addressing user issues promptly and professionally
Troubleshoot hardware problems related to computer hardware, peripherals, and network devices
Support desktop environments across Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems
Assist with software troubleshooting including Microsoft Office applications, specialised enterprise software, and VPN connectivity
Manage user accounts and permissions within Active Directory and utilise SCCM for software deployment and updates
Configure and maintain network components such as LAN, DNS, TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, and TCP protocols to ensure secure connectivity
Monitor system performance and perform routine maintenance tasks using tools like BMC Remedy and ServiceNow
Collaborate with the IT team to implement system upgrades, security patches, and new technology solutions
Document technical procedures accurately and maintain detailed records of support activities

Requirements

Proven experience in technical support or help desk roles within a corporate environment
Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN, DNS, TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, and TCP protocols
Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows (including Windows Server), macOS, and Linux distributions
Experience with Active Directory management and software deployment tools like SCCM
Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware components and peripheral devices
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
Knowledge of service management platforms such as ServiceNow or BMC Remedy is desirable
Analytical skills to diagnose complex technical problems efficiently
Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of customer service
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate) are advantageous but not essential

Pay: Up to £43,000.00 per year
