Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester/Technician to join our friendly automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests and performing vehicle repairs , to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for vehicle maintenance and a strong mechanical background to develop their career within a professional and supportive environment. We are a family business that has been in business for 40 years . This is a full time roll , working Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm ( 30 minute lunch break) . No weekend work , we believe in a healthy work /life balance . The applicant must have a full UK Driving license .

Duties

Conduct MOT tests in accordance with legal and safety requirements, ensuring vehicles meet the necessary standards before certification
Perform vehicle diagnostics, using modern diagnostic computers and repair as required.
Identify mechanical issues and advise customers on necessary repairs or replacements
Assist with vehicle servicing, including oil changes, brake checks, timing belts ,wet belts and other routine maintenance. Clutch replacements.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and test results in compliance with company procedures
Ensure all work areas are kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
Assist in training junior staff or apprentices as needed

Experience

A minimum of 3 years , Proven experience as an MOT Tester or Vehicle Technician within a professional garage or workshop environment
Mechanical knowledge of various vehicle systems and components
Experience in vehicle diagnostic
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or components
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail. This role offers a dynamic working environment where technical skills are valued and developed. We welcome applications from motivated individuals eager to uphold high standards of vehicle safety through expert testing and maintenance.
Must have a full UK driving licence.

Pay: £38,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
