Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machine Operative to join our clients manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining various machinery involved in fabrication and assembly processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills within a dynamic environment, contributing to the production of high-quality products. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and experience in manufacturing settings.

Responsibilities

Operate a range of fabrication machinery, including milling machines, welding equipment, and other production tools.
Set up and adjust machines using CAD drawings, SolidWorks models, and other technical documentation.
Programme and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to ensure optimal machine performance.
Handle materials efficiently, including loading, unloading, and organising components within the warehouse or production area.
Perform basic maintenance, inspections, and cleaning of machinery to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Assist with assembly tasks, ensuring parts are correctly fitted according to specifications.
Use hand tools and tooling to modify or repair equipment as required.
Apply basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and quality checks during production processes.
Follow health and safety guidelines diligently, maintaining a safe working environment at all times.

Experience

Proven experience in manufacturing or workshop environments is preferred.
Knowledge of fabrication techniques such as welding, milling, and assembly is highly desirable.
Familiarity with CAD software and SolidWorks for technical drawings is advantageous.
Experience with materials handling and warehouse operations will be considered a plus.
Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools and tooling is essential.
Previous exposure to programming PLCs or working with CNC machinery will be beneficial but is not mandatory. This role offers an engaging environment for individuals passionate about manufacturing technology and mechanical processes, with opportunities for skill development across various technical disciplines.

Pay: £15.00-£17.00 per hour
