Depot Manager – Car Parts Distribution
Location: Gateshead
Company: Marathon Warehouse Distribution Ltd

Overview
We are a well-established, nationwide car parts distribution business with multiple depots across the UK. Due to continued growth, we are opening a new operation in Gateshead and are looking for a hands-on Depot Manager to take full responsibility for the site.

While the premises are established, this is a fresh depot setup from an operational point of view. We are looking for someone who can play a key role in building the branch from the ground up, including racking layout, stock setup, and system implementation.

This is not a desk-based role. You will be expected to lead from the front, take ownership, and put your own stamp on the depot from day one.

Working hours are Monday to Friday. No weekends.

The Role

Full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the depot
Assisting with the initial setup of the branch (racking, layout, stock input, systems)
Managing drivers and warehouse operations
Overseeing goods in and goods out to ensure accuracy and efficiency
Planning routes and ensuring deliveries go out on time
Managing vehicle compliance, servicing schedules, and defect reporting
Ensuring all driver paperwork and compliance is completed correctly
Stock control, stock checks, and maintaining accurate inventory
Using internal systems (CAM) to manage stock and operations
Maintaining depot organisation, standards, and overall performance
Dealing with issues quickly and keeping service levels high
Reporting into Regional Manager and Director
Customer-focused with a clear understanding that service levels, accuracy and reliability are non-negotiable.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience in depot, warehouse, or distribution management
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and drive a team
Hands-on approach with a willingness to get involved
Experience setting up or improving depot/warehouse operations is highly desirable
Organised, proactive, and able to work under pressure
Someone who takes ownership and accountability
Experience within motor factors or automotive parts distribution is advantageous
Good understanding of logistics, routing, and stock control
Comfortable using systems (CAM experience beneficial but not essential)
