Artwork / Graphic Designer (Apparel Production)

Company: Woven Inc Ltd

Location: Washington, Tyne & Wear (Office-based)

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8am – 5:00pm & Friday 8am-1pm

Established in 2012, we are the North East’s #1 provider of high-quality screen printing, embroidery, DTG (Direct to Garment), DTF, vinyl transfers, and garment finishing. We work with businesses, brands, workwear clients, and individuals across the UK to create standout custom clothing, uniforms, promotional merchandise, and branded apparel.

We pride ourselves on quality, fast turnaround times (typically 10-14 working days from artwork approval), sustainability, and exceptional customer service. Our in-house team handles everything from design preparation and production to delivery, and we’re growing!

The Role

We are looking for a talented and motivated Artwork / Graphic Designer to join our busy production team. This is a varied, hands-on role focused on preparing client artwork for production while also providing excellent customer service.

**Important Note: This role does not involve creating original graphics or designing from scratch for clients. Instead, you will receive client-supplied designs and adapt/prepare them for our production facilities (screenprint, embroidery, DTG, vinyl, etc.). There may be emoluments in the future for this service to open up.

Key Responsibilities:

- Receive, review, rework, and optimise client-supplied artwork files to production-ready standards for screen printing, embroidery, DTG, vinyl, and other processes.

- Modify, proof, and finalise design files ready for our production team.

- Liaise directly with the sales team and clients (via email, telephone, and face-to-face) to discuss designs, suggest technical improvements or changes, explain production limitations, and gain approvals.

- Participate in team meetings and provide clear guidance on what is or isn’t possible within our production capabilities.

- Create layouts, determine sizing and arrangement of illustrative material and text based on available space, visual impact, and production requirements.

- Answer the door, greet visitors, and handle general enquiries from time to time.

- Support parts of the production process as needed (e.g., basic production tasks, inventory maintenance).

- Work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.

Requirements

- Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is essential.

- Some prior graphic design experience, ideally within apparel, print, or textile production workflows.

- Comfortable working on both Apple Macs and PCs.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure to meet deadlines.

- Clear, confident, and professional communication skills, you will regularly speak with customers face-to-face, over the telephone, and via email.

- Positive attitude, team player, and willingness to learn.

- Knowledge of embroidery or specialist design software (e.g., Wilcom) is advantageous but not essential full training will be provided.
