Management Trainee – Removals & OperationsJob Overview

We are seeking a highly organised, ambitious, and motivated Management Trainee to join our growing removals and storage business. This is a hands-on role designed to provide comprehensive training across all areas of the company, including customer service, operations, scheduling, logistics, sales, administration, finance, and team coordination.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, gaining valuable experience in the day-to-day running of the business while developing the skills required to progress into an Operations Manager or General Manager position.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within a growing company, with the potential to take on significant management responsibilities and play a key role in the future leadership of the business.

Key Responsibilities

As part of your management development programme, you will gain experience and responsibility across the following areas:

Customer Service & Sales

Manage customer enquiries via telephone, email, and online platforms.
Prepare quotations for domestic and commercial removals and storage services.
Convert enquiries into confirmed bookings through excellent customer service and sales support.
Build strong relationships with customers and business partners.
Follow up quotations, leads, and referral opportunities.

Operations & Logistics

Assist in scheduling removal crews, vehicles, and storage operations.
Coordinate daily operational activities and job allocations.
Monitor job progress and ensure customer expectations are met.
Support route planning and logistical decision-making.
Learn operational planning and resource management.

Administration & Business Support

Maintain accurate customer records, contracts, and operational documentation.
Prepare invoices, reports, and management information.
Ensure company databases and filing systems remain accurate and up to date.
Support compliance, insurance, and health and safety administration.

Financial & Commercial Administration

Process customer payments and invoices.
Monitor outstanding accounts and payment collections.
Assist with payroll administration and timesheet management.
Develop an understanding of company finances, profitability, and cost control.

Fleet, Compliance & Resource Management

Assist with vehicle, equipment, and asset management.
Coordinate servicing, maintenance, and compliance requirements.
Monitor operational costs and efficiency.
Ensure company procedures and transport regulations are followed.

Team & Leadership Development

Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff administration.
Assist with workforce scheduling and resource planning.
Develop leadership, communication, and people-management skills.
Work alongside management on business improvement projects and strategic initiatives.

Skills & RequirementsEssential

Strong organisational and communication skills.
Professional and confident approach to customer service.
Excellent attention to detail and administrative ability.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Ambition to develop into a management role.

Desirable

Experience in administration, customer service, logistics, transport, removals, or operations.
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
