Location: Belfast, United Kingdom

DESCRIPTION OF JOB

Complete secondary processes in a team environment. Adhere to process and quality requirements to meet the company milestones and targets.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for secondary operations of machine details as per the production schedule with focus on quality, cost and schedule.
The operator will carry out a range of tasks e.g. – Secondary operations of machine details such as sub-assembly of components, mechanical finishing, hand finishing, applying protective coatings and non-destructive testing.
Participation in continuous improvement projects.
Liaising with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering & management to develop team working and ensure that safety, cost, quality and schedule are met.
Ensures that all tools, work instructions and equipment are maintained and at the correct standard.
Responsible for the cleanliness of work stations and general working area.
The jobholder will participate with their manager in the e-HR together policy and ensure that individual career and personal development plans are in place.
Ensure all work undertaken is in accord with the departmental control procedures and ensure that in all aspects of work these procedures are followed.
Will be expected to work for periods of time without supervision and required to maintain records of production builds.
Assisting with work in other areas of the site when required to by management to achieve production schedules.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential:
The jobholder should have a GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics, English, Science and Technology.

Desirable:

Experience of mechanical and hand finishing of machine details
Experience of assembling basic sub-assemblies
Experience of applying protective coatings
Experience of Non-Destructive Testing
Follow manufacturing instruction sheets
Read basic engineering drawings
Knowledge and experience of Lean manufacturing/Business improvement Techniques

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Reliable team player, capable of working on own initiative within a team environment.
Willingness and flexibility to support activities at other Thales sites.
May be required to work shifts to support business needs
