Our EEI Academy instructors have over 120 years of military experience and thousands of amassed operating hours on a wide variety of drones in both a commercial and operational setting.
We have expertise on all matters relating to drones, drone training and drone surveying within our team ranging from sub 25kg aircrafts, such as the Mavic Mini, through to the MQ-9 Reaper and other Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) aircrafts. Role Overview
The Health, Safety and Security Officer reports to the Total Safety Manager and is responsible for developing and maintaining Health, Safety and Environmental systems, supporting audits, and preparing the organisation for future certifications.
The role ensures compliance with all legal, regulatory and contractual requirements, while promoting a positive safety, environmental and security culture across the organisation. It also acts as the Security Manager for SC and DV clearance environments, ensuring adherence to government security standards, protecting sensitive information, and overseeing secure operational practices.
Health, Safety and Environmental
- As part of the Total safety team develop and deliver the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental strategy and improvement plans.
- Act as the primary contact for all HSE matters, providing guidance on issues including managing RIDDOR, investigations and corrective actions.
- Create, maintain and continuously improve HSE policies, procedures and documentation.
- Support environmental activities including waste management, pollution prevention, sustainability initiatives and ISO 14001 readiness.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, including risk assessments, incident reports and environmental documentation.
- Support the Total Safety team in achieving company objectives.
- Apply continuous improvement practices to strengthen readiness for future certifications.
- Maintain the company’s sustainability audit system Ecovadis and ensure readiness for audits.
Security Management
- Manage the SC and DV clearance administration, renewals and aftercare, acting as the main contact with UKSV and security partners.
- Manage organisational security requirements, including personnel, physical, building and information security.
- Develop and maintain security policies covering personnel, physical and building security.
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive information and assets, and ensure contractors meet required security standards.
- Conduct security risk assessments for sites, projects and personnel, maintaining the security risk register.
- Lead investigations into security incidents or breaches and support business continuity and emergency planning.
Audits, Inspections & Compliance
- Coordinate and conduct internal and external workplace audits.
- Complete audit activities, track corrective actions and ensure compliance with government security standards and contractual obligations.
- Lead inspections such as fire safety, first aid, COSHH and other statutory checks.
Incident, Accident and Risk Management
- Manage workplace near miss and accident reporting, investigations and follow up actions.
- Lead work place risk assessments and ensure effective controls are implemented and maintained.
- Support managers in identifying root causes and preventing recurrence.
- Maintain safety and security risk registers and ensure mitigation measures are in place.
Qualifications and Experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
- First Aid at Work Qualified
- ISO 14001 trained (desirable)
- Experience in a similar role within a technical or operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety and environmental legislation.
- Auditing experience
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and environmental management systems
- Experience with BPSS, SC or DV clearance processes (desirable).
- Understanding of UK government security frameworks (desirable).
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Due to the nature of elements of the role, the successful applicant must be a UK National and may be required to successfully complete National Security Vetting which may require criminal record, security service and credit reference checks; qualification will also normally require a minimum UK residency of at least 5 years.
