Full job description

YorLinc are seeking dedicated and professional Freelance Support Worker’s to provide high-quality, personalised support to individuals in receipt of Access To Work funding.

Your support will play a vital role in ensuring individuals with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions are supported within their employment. This role does not involve personal care, instead it focuses on enablement support to assist in the removal of barriers within an individual’s workplace.

The role requirements may vary depending on the workplace and individual employee need, but may include:

Practical assistance to access workplace environments;
Workload planning and diary management;
Communicating access needs to employers/management staff;
Notetaking;
Support to create and implement organisational systems;
Assisting with prioritisation, task initiation, and time management;
Supporting with written communication (e.g. emails, reports, documentation);
Preparing for and debriefing after meetings;
Supporting understanding of workplace expectations and processes;
Implementing agreed coping strategies to manage workplace demands;
Providing structured, person-centred support in line with an agreed support plan;
Liaising appropriately with the individual, employer, and relevant professionals where required.

As a Support Worker, you must remain within the remit of the role outlined by the funding body, ensuring that support enables the individual to perform their role independently and does not replace the duties of an employee.

Essential Criteria:

Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, neurodivergence, or mental health conditions;
Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work independently and adapt to a variety of workplace environments;
Clear understanding of professional boundaries within a workplace setting;
Ability to implement practical strategies to reduce workplace barriers;
Reliable, professional, and flexible approach to freelance work.

Desirable Criteria:

Understanding of neurodivergence, sensory impairments, and long-term health conditions within workplace contexts;
Experience within workplace support roles;
Background in education, coaching, mentoring, or support work;
Understanding of reasonable adjustments and workplace inclusion practices.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £14.00 per hour
