Summary
We are seeking to appoint a highly organised, personable and proactive School Business Manager to join our school. They will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our administration function, finance, human resources, premises and health and safety.
This is a key role within our school, providing essential support to ensure the smooth and effective day-to-day running of our operations. The successful candidate will work closely with, and be accountable to, the Headteacher, supporting both the strategic and operational needs of the school.
In our school, the Business Manager is a visible and valued member of the team and often the first point of contact for parents, visitors and external partners. The role therefore requires someone who combines strong organisational and financial skills with a friendly, professional and approachable manner.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading on the schools financial administration, including budgeting, monitoring and reporting
- Supporting the Headteacher and Governors with financial planning and resource management
- Providing administrative support to the Governing Body, including attendance at Finance Committee and Curriculum meetings (three per year)
- Overseeing premises management, including coordination of maintenance, contractors and statutory compliance
- Leading on health and safety administration, ensuring systems and records are up to date
- Managing school administrative systems, including pupil data, admissions support and communications
- Supporting HR administration processes, including recruitment, staff absence recording and safer recruitment procedures
- Acting as the welcoming face of the school, providing a high-quality front-of-house service to pupils, parents and visitors
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience of financial administration and strong ICT skills
- The ability to prioritise along with excellent organisational skills
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and professional, approachable manner
- Ability to handle sensitive information
- Ability to work independently manage a busy and varied workload
- A proactive and flexible approach
- Previous experience of working in a school or educational setting

Essential Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English A C or equivalent
