We are looking for enthusiastic and committed people to join our established fundraising team, supporting a charity with a proud 130-year history of working with and supporting the visually impaired community.
About the opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a friendly and experienced fundraising team, helping to raise vital income and awareness for a long-established local charity. The roles are available on a part-time basis, but may be combined to create a full-time position for the right candidate.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who is organised, approachable and motivated, with strong communication skills and a genuine interest in supporting the work of the charity. Experience in fundraising, events, administration, customer service or community engagement would be helpful, but most important is a positive attitude and willingness to get involved.
Individual Giving Officer
Responsible to: Fundraising & Marketing Manager
Hours: 14 hours per week.
We are flexible in when these hours are worked
Salary: Between £28,000 -£32,000 pro rata
dependant on relevant experience
Purpose
The purpose of this role is to maximise sustainable income generation through the development and delivery of effective individual giving strategies and campaigns. The postholder will lead on donor acquisition, retention and stewardship activity, using data-driven insight and supporter-focused communications to grow and engage the charity’s donor base. Working collaboratively across the organisation and with external partners, the role will ensure excellent supporter care, effective campaign management, and compliance with fundraising regulations, contributing to the long-term sustainability and impact of the organisation.
Role Summary
· To maximise sustainable income generation by managing the development and implementation of donor acquisition, retention and stewardship activity.
· To be responsible for the project management and production of both on and offline individual giving campaigns, appeals and materials including the effective use of individual giving data and management of third-party suppliers.
· To use and develop the fundraising database to effectively monitor, analyse and interpret individual giving performance and inform the growth of the individual giving income stream.
Responsibilities
Project Management
· Working alongside our Grants Development & Marketing Manager support all aspects of our individual giving work
· Work with internal colleagues and external suppliers, and agencies, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
· Manage individual giving fundraising campaigns including raffles and seasonal appeals
· Manage and develop supporter communications including welcome, newsletter and post appeal communications
· Develop and execute regular giving products and appeals
· Produce and execute legacy and in memoriam marketing plans
· Ensure all individual giving activity complies with the appropriate regulation and legislation and deliver an excellent experience for supporters.
Data Management & Reporting
· Manage the selection and segmentation of individual giving data for campaign purposes
· Ensure accurate and timely import and export of donor data ot ensure that support records are up to date at all times
· Use campaign data to track and report on effectiveness of activity, attrition and inform decision making and future planning
· Identify and develop the systems and processes necessary to deliver effective individual giving activity including the website and email, fundraising database, data analysis tools and social media.
Strategy & Planning
· Working alongside the Grants Development & Marketing Manager to produce and execute an effective and sustainable individual giving plan in order to grow income from new and existing donors
· Create and implement effective donor journeys in order to maximise the engagement and retention of individual supporters
· Identify potential new individual giving audiences and implement acquisition strategies in order to grow the individual giving donor base
· Work across the organisation to champion and promote individual giving and to implement excellent supporter care
Person Specification – Individual Giving Officer
Essential Experience
- Experience of working in a fundraising, marketing, communications, or customer engagement role.
- Experience of planning and delivering campaigns, appeals, or supporter communications across online and offline channels.
- Experience of using databases/CRM systems to manage supporter or customer information.
- Experience of analysing data and reporting on campaign performance.
- Experience of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines effectively.
- Experience of working collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers or stakeholders.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce engaging supporter communications.
- Strong organisational and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and use data to inform decision making and improve performance.
- Good understanding of supporter stewardship and relationship management.
- Ability to manage and segment data for targeted campaigns.
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and fundraising/database systems.
- Knowledge of digital communication tools including email marketing and social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality, GDPR, and data accuracy.

- Experience of using fundraising platforms, email marketing systems, or website content management systems.
- Experience of working with external agencies, printers, or mailing houses.
Desirable Knowledge & Qualifications
- Knowledge of fundraising regulations, Gift Aid, and GDPR requirements.
- Understanding of donor journeys, acquisition, and retention strategies.
- Relevant qualification in fundraising, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Membership of or interest in professional fundraising networks or bodies.
