Full job description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and compassionate Team Leader to join our supported accommodation service for young people. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership to the support team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred support that promotes independence, resilience, and positive outcomes.

Working closely with the Registered Manager or Service Manager, you will lead by example, support staff development, oversee daily operations, and ensure the service operates in line with safeguarding requirements, organisational policies, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Lead shifts and support the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
Build positive relationships with young people and promote independence through life skills development.
Encourage engagement in education, employment, training, and community activities.
Promote positive behaviour and ensure young people's views are reflected in their support plans.
Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately.
Maintain accurate support records, risk assessments, and incident reports.
Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and quality standards, supporting audits and service improvements.

Requirements

Essential

Knowledge of Ofsted regulations, or willingness to undertake training to develop this knowledge.
Previous experience supporting young people in supported accommodation, or a similar social setting.
Experience leading or supervising a team within a care or support environment.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and professional boundaries.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to motivate and develop others while maintaining high standards of practice.
Experience completing care records, incident reports, and support documentation.
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and participation in an on-call rota where required.
Right to work in the UK.
Applicants must hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate registered with the DBS Update Service, or be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check prior to commencing employment.

Desirable

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People's Workforce, Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or willingness to work towards it).
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and positive behaviour support.
Experience working with young people who have experienced trauma, exploitation, or complex needs.
Full UK driving licence (If you hold a valid driving licence and have access to your own vehicle, you must be willing to obtain business-use motor insurance to transport young people as part of your role. The company will reimburse the additional cost of upgrading your insurance to include business use)
