Role Introduction

Leeds Community Healthcare Children’s Physiotherapy Team is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to work in our Integrated Children’s Additional Needs Service (ICAN).

We provide physiotherapy services to children 0-19 years with mild, moderate and complex needs, including long term neurodevelopmental conditions. Children and families can access the service in a variety of venues including health centres, schools, nurseries, home settings and other community and NHS venues.

Due to the community nature of our service a U.K. car driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

You will work with our registered physiotherapists and assistants to complete an induction period, following which you will work independently, providing delegated therapeutic approaches that will enable the child and family to meet their goals.

This is a physically demanding job, requiring a candidate who can comfortably work in a variety of positions at floor level to engage children in activities e.g. developing balance and learning to move between different positions. The candidate will also be required to work on a trampoline and in a hydrotherapy pool to deliver specific interventions.

The role also includes supporting the physiotherapy team with administrative duties including booking clinics and managing orthotic clinics via the Electronic Patient Record. Candidates will complete the Care Certificate as part of the induction process.

Successful applicants must have excellent communication skills and a sense of fun and innovation to engage children and young people of all ages, and their families in their physiotherapy care. You will be able to recognise and respond to changing clinical situations, liaising with all members of the multi-disciplinary team as needed to support children and young people to achieve and succeed.

We offer a comprehensive induction, ongoing clinical and managerial support from experienced specialist staff, and regular in-house training, as well as opportunities for involvement in service development.

You will be expected to work independently following induction, managing your own diary and responsibilities.

You will deliver a range of therapy interventions in a fun and creative way, including land-based blocks, rebound and aquatic physiotherapy, engaging children and young people of all ages and their families in their physiotherapy care.

You will support the orthotics clinics at venues across the city, including managing orders, clinic appointments and physically assisting the orthotist.

Candidates will need to be confident and competent working with IT programmes such as Microsoft Word, and Excel, and using online meeting platforms e.g. Microsoft Teams as well as email and SMS. Candidates will need to be good at learning new IT skills e.g. Electronic Patient Record (SystmOne) if they are not already familiar with this.
