Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable, practical and multi-skilled General Handyman to assist the proprietor with the maintenance, repair and improvement of premises. The role will involve carrying out a wide range of basic building, repair and installation tasks, including plumbing, joinery, tiling, flooring, brickwork, plastering/skimming and basic electrical work where competent and permitted.
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, trustworthy, organised and able to work independently or alongside the proprietor to complete jobs to a good standard.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to assist with general premises maintenance and improvement works, including but not limited to:
- Basic plumbing repairs and replacements, including kitchen sink upgrades, tap replacements, pipework checks and minor leak repairs.
- Kitchen unit installation, adjustments and repairs.
- Basic joinery and carpentry tasks, including fitting shelves, doors, skirting boards, trims and worktops.
- Flooring installation and repairs, including laminate, vinyl and other common flooring types.
- Wall and floor tiling, grouting and silicone sealing.
- Skimming, patch plastering and preparation of walls and ceilings.
- Basic brickwork, repairs and making good damaged areas.
- Light fitting and replacement, where legally permitted and within the candidate’s competence.
- General painting, decorating and finishing works.
- Minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, doors, locks, handles and hardware.
- Assisting with planned maintenance, refurbishments and small improvement projects.
- Identifying maintenance issues and reporting any larger or specialist works required.
- Keeping tools, materials and work areas clean, tidy and safe.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a good standard.
- Working in accordance with health and safety requirements at all times.
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous experience in general maintenance, handyman work, property refurbishment or a similar practical role.
- Good working knowledge of basic plumbing, joinery, tiling, flooring, plastering/skimming and general repair works.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and competently.
- Practical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day tasks.
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
- Good communication skills and willingness to assist the proprietor as required.
- Ability to work tidily and respectfully within occupied or operational premises.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with kitchen fitting or refurbishment works.
- Experience with light installation or minor electrical works, where qualified or competent.
- Basic bricklaying or masonry repair experience.
- Own tools and transport.
- Relevant trade qualifications or health and safety training.
Important Note on Electrical and Specialist Works
Any electrical, gas or specialist works must only be carried out where the individual is suitably competent, qualified and legally permitted to do so. Work outside the candidate’s competence must be referred to an appropriate qualified contractor.

Pay: £140.00-£150.00 per day
Work Location: In person
