Sushi Chef / Chef

Starting Rate: £13.50 per hour

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Sushi Chef / Chef to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong enthusiasm for food, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality and customer service. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced, professional kitchen environment where quality, creativity, and teamwork are valued.

Key ResponsibilitiesSushi Preparation

Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and specialty rolls, ensuring high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation.
Demonstrate excellent knife skills and attention to detail when preparing ingredients and finished dishes.

Food Preparation & Cooking

Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, specifications, and daily preparation lists.
Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, freshness, and presentation.
Assist with the development of new dishes and menu specials where appropriate.

Ingredient Management

Ensure all ingredients, including seafood, rice, vegetables, and condiments, are stored, handled, and maintained to the highest standards.
Monitor stock levels, rotate stock correctly, and minimise waste.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with fellow chefs and kitchen team members to ensure efficient service and smooth kitchen operations.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and support a positive team environment.

Food Safety & Hygiene

Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
Maintain a clean, organised, and professional work area at all times.

Customer Experience

Take pride in delivering dishes that exceed customer expectations.
Assist with customer enquiries and accommodate special requests where possible.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a Sushi Chef, Chef, or in a similar kitchen role is essential.
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience of sushi preparation techniques is required, including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, fish preparation, rice cooking, and knife skills.
Knowledge of food hygiene, food safety, and health & safety regulations.
Excellent knife skills and food preparation abilities.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and presentation.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
