Secondary Science Teacher – SEMH School

Ruddington, Nottinghamshire
Full Time | Term Time Only
Salary: Up to £37,500 + SEN Allowance

Ace Sports Midlands LTD are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH for a Secondary Science GCSE Teacher to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and passionate Science Teacher looking to make a genuine difference within a specialist education setting supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated Science lessons to secondary-aged pupils working towards GCSE qualifications within a small class environment.

Class sizes are intentionally small, with no more than 6 pupils per class, supported by Teaching Assistants to help create a positive and supportive learning environment.

The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs including:

SEMH
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
ADHD
Attachment needs
Sensory Processing Disorder
Mild to moderate learning difficulties

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons in line with the national curriculum.
Differentiate learning to meet individual pupil needs.
Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.
Support behaviour positively and consistently.
Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with support staff and senior leaders.
Supervise pupils during activities, enrichment, and non-classroom time.

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Experience teaching Science at secondary/GCSE level.
Experience working with SEMH or SEND pupils is desirable.
Strong behaviour management skills.
Resilient, patient, and adaptable approach.
Commitment to safeguarding and professional standards.
Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
