Dendara is a wholefood bakery and deli in Kensington creating handcrafted sweet and savoury foods made without gluten, dairy, or refined sugar. We are a small, close-knit team of women who genuinely enjoy working together, and we're proud to have retained our core chef team since the beginning. We're looking for someone seeking a long-term role who wants to become an integral part of the business, starting as a Sous Chef with the opportunity to grow into a Head Chef position as we continue to expand. In our small team, every person matters, and we value reliability, initiative, accountability, and a positive attitude just as much as culinary skill.
Now Hiring: Full-Time Team Member
We are hiring for a full-time role with shifts starting at 6:00 AM. Initial scheduling will begin at approximately 5 hours per shift, 4 days per week, with the opportunity to increase up to a maximum of 40 hours weekly.
The regular work schedule is Thursday through Sunday, as we are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Weekend availability is required, with Sunday availability especially important, as this shift will be worked independently once training is completed.
Wednesday availability is preferred during the training period before transitioning into the fixed Thursday–Sunday schedule.
Your responsibilities:
- Prepare food for walk-in bakery every morning up to standard and timely
- Prepare catering orders up to standard and timely
- Support the production in all aspects of the bakery, across all sections, preparing ingredients, mixes and equipment for the task at hand
- Batch making, rolling, and shaping our pastry doughs
- Laminating puff pastry
- Lining tarts
- Assembling and baking tarts and other baked goods
- Cake decoration
- Ensure the highest standards of food hygiene and follow health & safety guidelines with responsibility for the bakery
- Cleaning, sanitation, and kitchen maintenance
- Accepting and properly storing deliveries
- Inventory checks and keep record of stock counts
We are looking for an ardent baker that is a fast learner whether through experience at a commercial bakery or kitchen or from home baking. A minimum of two years of experience working in a commercial bakery or kitchen is advantageous.
What is required of you:
- Able to get up early and punctual
- Responsible, effective communicator and had working
- Available to work on weekends
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Capable to work under pressure and at a fast pace
- Commitment to stay aligned with our standards of production and hygiene - it is required of you to keep your space clean and tidy at all times as you operate and clean end of shift
- Physically fit as the work is demanding
- Have a basic food hygiene certificate (or be prepared to get one)
- Have and present the correct right to work documents for working in the UK to be employed
- It's a bonus if you have an interest in experimenting in free-from and low to no sugar baking and pushing boundaries to innovate
