Job Overview
At Open Door Environmental Education we are pursuing a dedicated and compassionate Senior Education Support Worker to join our specialised educational team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting children with diverse needs, including those with autism, ADHD and SEMH needs, within a nurturing learning environment. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young people' lives by providing tailored, bespoke support and fostering their development through engaging educational activities. The position is paid and requires a proactive, caring individual with a strong commitment to inclusive education.

Job Purpose

Deliver personalised one-to-one and group support to young people through mentoring and guidance
Ensure every young person receives suitable assistance and is monitored on a regular basis.
Foster young people with personal, social and educational growth — with a focus on those who are underachieving, disengaged, or require behavioural support
Collaborate closely with colleagues to help young people fully participate in their learning and achieve meaningful progress
Provide holistic support that identifies and removes barriers preventing young people from engaging fully

Duties and Responsibilities

Support young people registered with Open Door Environmental Education, including:
**Daily transport for young peoples; assistance within the community and learning environments as required; and ensuring all young peoples have access to healthy, nutritious meals.
**Delivering support in line with agreed plans, working within team structures and reporting lines. Programmes will be reviewed regularly with school staff, social workers, parents/carers and other relevant professionals.
Manage challenging behaviour or disengagement consistently, following all relevant policies and procedures.
Design and deliver a varied programme of projects and activities that help young people work toward their agreed goals and outcomes.
Complete all necessary administrative work to ensure young peoples’ work meets accreditation and assessment standards.
Work alongside young people, colleagues, external agencies and families to identify and resolve barriers to learning.
Adhere strictly to the organisation’s safeguarding policy; prioritise and report any concerns promptly and appropriately.
Prepare and contribute to young people and service reports as required.
Attend meetings, reviews and training sessions relevant to the role.
Build strong partnerships with parents/carers, school staff and external services to ensure coordinated, consistent support for all young peoples.
Promote inclusive practices and ensure all activities and interactions are accessible and fair.
Act as a named key worker for assigned young people, providing consistent support and a point of contact.
Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of different learning needs and the specific requirements of the young people you support.
Contribute to the design and planning of effective support programmes, working with the management team and other professionals.
Provide ongoing pastoral care to ensure young people feel safe, secure, respected and valued.
Supervise young people to ensure their safety and full access to learning opportunities; support them to work effectively both independently and within groups.
Build positive, professional relationships and communicate clearly with colleagues, partner agencies, families and external professionals.
Comply with all policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality, data protection and equal opportunities; report any concerns to the appropriate person immediately.
Comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education
Engage in training, professional development and reflective practice as required to maintain and enhance your skills.
Share your strengths and expertise to support, guide and advise colleagues where appropriate.
Work flexibly across different locations and settings as operational needs require.
Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the level and scope of the role, as directed by management.
