RAISE Rochdale Pupil Referral Service is looking to appoint a proactive and organised Attendance Officer to lead on monitoring, improving, and promoting student attendance.

This is a vital role within our provision, supporting some of Rochdale’s most vulnerable young people to re-engage with education. You will play a key part in identifying barriers to attendance and working closely with families, staff, and external agencies to improve outcomes, under the supervision of SLT.

Raise Rochdale PRS is currently based over three sites; candidates will be required to work flexibly to meet the requirements of the role. Transport is required.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor, track, and analyse student attendance and punctuality
Maintain accurate attendance records in line with statutory requirements
Follow up on absences promptly, including first day calling procedures
Work directly with pupils and families to improve attendance
Carry out home visits where appropriate and necessary
Develop and implement strategies to address persistent absence
Produce regular attendance reports for leadership
Liaise with external agencies, including the Local Authority and safeguarding teams
Support safeguarding processes, ensuring student welfare is prioritised

What We’re Looking For

Has experience in an administrative or attendance-related role, ideally within education
Has strong organisational and IT skills (e.g. SIMS or similar systems)
Is confident communicating with parents/carers and external professionals
Can build positive relationships with vulnerable young people
Has a good understanding of safeguarding and attendance legislation
Is able to work independently and manage competing priorities
Is resilient, empathetic, and solution-focused
