This is an exciting and varied role that plays an important part in ensuring effective communications in the University’s student services division - the Academic Administration Division (AAD).

The AAD provides the support and information that Oxford students need to thrive in their academic and personal lives, and relies on effective communications to achieve its goals. The Communications Officer will contribute to the division’s success through effective staff and student communications – from websites and digital channels to events, and publications.

About the Role

The postholder will make a significant contribution to the AAD communications strategy – creating compelling content about a wide range of topics; and engaging effectively with a wide range of internal stakeholders to ensure effective flows of communications between the division and its audiences.

Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager – Students and AAD, you will work with colleagues across the collegiate University – coordinating communications activities for students and student-facing staff, and provide professional advice and support for colleagues.

About You

You will bring experience of delivering high-quality communications across digital and print channels, with excellent writing, editing, proofreading and the ability to make complex or sensitive information clear and accessible to non-specialist audiences. You will be confident managing web and social media content, designing and producing promotional materials, supporting events and using analytics, surveys and other evidence to evaluate communications activity to inform future planning. Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, you will be able to manage competing priorities, take ownership of quality assurance and independently resolve content and communications requirements.

An effective and diplomatic communicator, you will build productive relationships with colleagues across the collegiate University and act as a trusted point of contact for communications advice. You will be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior colleagues and subject-matter experts, and will contribute constructively to decisions about communications processes and priorities. Proactive and collaborative, you will identify opportunities to improve ways of working, uphold accessibility, data protection and University brand requirements, and share best practice through relevant professional networks.
