Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Butcher Manager to lead our in-store butchery department. The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, ensure high standards of food safety and quality, and provide exceptional customer service. This role requires a strong background in food production, culinary skills, and team management within a retail environment. The Retail Butcher Manager will play a key role in maintaining the store’s reputation for premium meat products and delivering a memorable shopping experience for our customers.

Responsibilities

Manage the daily operations of the butchery department, including stock control, ordering, and inventory management
Lead and supervise a team of butchers and retail staff, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of customer service
Prepare, cut, and package meat products in accordance with food safety regulations and quality standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the butchery area to comply with health and safety guidelines
Develop and implement sales strategies to promote meat products and increase departmental revenue
Provide expert advice to customers on meat selection, preparation, and cooking techniques
Ensure all food safety protocols are adhered to, including proper handling, storage, and labelling of products
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the availability of quality meat products at competitive prices
Monitor stock levels regularly and place orders to prevent shortages or overstocking

Requirements

Proven experience in food production, butchery within a retail or restaurant setting
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations applicable to meat handling and processing
Demonstrable leadership skills with experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Good communication skills to interact confidently with customers and staff alike
Previous experience in restaurant or kitchen environments is desirable but not essential
Formal training or certification in butchery or food preparation is preferred
A proactive approach to problem-solving coupled with a passion for delivering high-quality products and service

Pay: £35,000.00-£100,000.00 per year
