Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and organised Post Office Counter Clerk to provide excellent customer service at our busy postal branch. The successful candidate will handle a variety of administrative and clerical tasks, ensuring smooth daily operations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting customers with postal services, managing transactions, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and assist with postal transactions including mailing parcels, selling stamps, and processing packages
Provide information on postal products and services accurately and efficiently
Operate computer systems to process transactions using software such as Microsoft Office and horizon system
Manage data entry tasks with high accuracy, maintaining up-to-date records of customer transactions
Handle big cash transactions and currency exchange with precision and accuracy in counting and transactions
Maintain organisation of the counter area to ensure a clean and welcoming environment
Perform administrative duties such as filing, sorting parcels and managing major daily cash flows.
Assist in stock management and report inventory levels as required

Requirements

Previous office experience or clerical experience is desirable
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), horizon systems.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Good typing speed and data entry accuracy
Demonstrable accuracy in cash counting and currency exchange transactions
Administrative experience with familiarity in handling postal or retail transactions is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Organised with strong organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
