Job Summary
We are a Boat Building and Marine Engineering company looking for an experienced Plater/Fabricator to join our busy, hands-on team. This is a practical role working directly on marine vessels, carrying out the fabrication, assembly, and installation of steel and metal components on both new builds and in-service boats.
You’ll be on the tools daily – measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling plate and structural steel, working from drawings, and ensuring high-quality fabrication suited to real-world marine environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling steel and other metals
- Fabricating structural components, frames, and plate work
- Using tools and machinery such as grinders, cutters, and welding equipment
- Conducting quality checks to ensure work meets required standards
- Working safely in line with company procedures and health & safety regulations
- Collaborating with team members to meet production deadlines
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Plater, Fabricator, or in a similar role
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques and materials
- Experience with welding (desirable but not essential, depending on role)
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Relevant qualifications or apprenticeship (preferred)
Pay: £15.74-£18.45 per hour
