Job Description:

Job Title: Visitor Services Assistant

Employment: Fixed Term

Hours: Variable, Sunday - Friday

Pay: National Minimum Wage

Introduction

We’re looking for a warm, approachable and smiley individual to greet people at the Welcome Hut and in the Entrance Hall to the Castle. The Visitor Services Assistant will be trained to work in both locations. You are likely to be the first face of Powderham for our visitors, therefore your positivity and welcoming attitude will leave a lasting impression for our visitors.

General Duties

Ensure an outstanding service is received by visitors
Deal effectively and courteously with all visitors and team members, keeping the management team briefed as required.
Take an active role in the welcoming, enjoyment and safety of all visitors

Welcome Hut

Opening and closing of the Welcome Hut.
Monitor the presentation standards of the Welcome Hut and area throughout the day
Assist the Attraction Coordinator with preparation and coordination of the Welcome Hut.
Processing ticket transactions, membership enquiries and retail transactions through the till.
Proactively up-sell membership and events and other additional items available, booking additional activities as appropriate.
Provide visitors with relevant castle information, i.e. tour times, maps, events etc.
Proactively and positively respond to any issues that may arise whilst on shift or, refer to a member of the management team.
Learn and effectively communicate knowledge about the Castle and grounds.
Keep information points up to date and presentable

Entrance Hall

Check tickets as visitors arrive, and offer information to support their visit.
Monitor the presentation standards of the welcome area throughout the day
Actively offer trails, or literature to support a visitor's experience in the castle. Promote and communicate any special events, exhibitions or activities.
Communicate with the Welcome Centre throughout the day to ensure visitors are well looked after and their visits run smoothly.
