Weight Loss Prescriber & Superintendent Pharmacist (Start-Up Digital Service)

Remote (UK-based) | Self-Employed | Flexible Sessions / Part-Time to Start

Weight Medics is seeking an experienced Superintendent Pharmacist who is also confident in remote prescribing for weight management, to join the business at an exciting stage of growth. Weight Medics operates as a CQC-regulated service and is building its pharmacy function in line with a safe, compliant, clinician-led model of care.

This is a senior opportunity for a pharmacist who has already been through GPhC registration and inspection, ideally within a start-up, digital, or distance-selling environment, and who wants to help shape a high-quality obesity and weight management service from the ground up. The Superintendent Pharmacist will support the CQC Registered Manager and Nursing Director with the safe supply and dispensing of weight loss medicines, making this role central to clinical governance, patient safety, and GPhC inspection readiness

About the role

This role combines two key functions within Weight Medics:

Clinical prescribing within a remote weight management service.
Superintendent Pharmacist leadership for pharmacy set-up, GPhC registration, inspection readiness, and ongoing medicines governance with the CQC Registered Manager.

The successful candidate will work closely with, report into, and be supported by the CQC Registered Manager and Nursing Director on pharmacy development, SOPs, pharmacy governance processes, and pharmacy regulatory compliance. Weight Medics is looking for a senior clinician who can bring both practical prescribing experience and the confidence to lead in a regulated pharmacy start-up setting.

Key responsibilities

Act as Superintendent Pharmacist for Weight Medics, or join as Superintendent Pharmacist Designate with a clear pathway into the named role.
Lead and support GPhC registration, inspection readiness, and pharmacy governance arrangements for the business.
Work alongside the CQC Registered Manager and Nursing Director to build a robust, safe, and inspection-ready prescribing and medicines framework.
Develop, review, and maintain SOPs, policies, audit processes, and medicines governance systems.
Provide oversight of controlled drug governance, safe prescribing processes, record keeping, and compliance standards where applicable.
Deliver high-quality, real-time remote consultations for patients seeking evidence-based weight management treatment.
Assess patient suitability for treatment and make safe, patient-centred prescribing decisions using structured clinical pathways.
Prescribe weight loss treatments including Mounjaro and Wegovy and Phentermine with appropriate clinical judgement, documentation, and follow-up.
Support a digital-first service model using remote consultation tools and online patient management systems.
Contribute to continuous service improvement, clinical governance, and the development of a modern, compliant obesity medicine service.

What Weight Medics is looking for

Essential

Current GPhC registration and eligibility to act as Superintendent Pharmacist in the UK.
Independent prescribing qualification.
Significant post-registration pharmacist experience, with the credibility to take on a senior governance role.
Previous experience of GPhC registration and inspection, ideally within a start-up, new pharmacy set-up, online pharmacy, or distance-selling model.
Experience conducting real-time patient consultations with full responsibility for clinical assessment, treatment decisions, and prescribing.
Experience prescribing weight loss medications, including Mounjaro and Wegovy.
Strong understanding of pharmacy governance, medicines legislation, inspection readiness, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound professional judgement, and a clear commitment to patient safety.

Highly desirable

Experience prescribing controlled drugs, particularly where robust safety processes and documentation are required such as ADHD medication, as these skills are transferable to safe prescribing of weight loss treatments such as Phentermine.
Experience within telehealth, digital health, or online prescribing services. Questionnaire based prescribing is unfortunately insufficient for us.
Experience setting up governance structures, SOP libraries, and operational pharmacy processes in a new or scaling service.
SCOPE certification or equivalent obesity management training.
A strong interest in obesity medicine, nutrition, behaviour change, and long-term patient outcomes.
