Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated Front of House Assistant to join our team at Jerkiz Caribbean Cuisine. This role involves providing Front of House service by serving food and beverages, maintaining cleanliness, operating tills, cash handling duties and potentially supporting kitchen operations. You will also assist in preparing drinks, managing stock, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate must be flexible with shift changes, have excellent customer service skills, and be committed to maintaining health and safety standards. It would be beneficial if the candidate has Jamaican Cuisine knowledge.

Part time / Full time hours - zero hour contract/ Flexible

Responsibilities: Reporting Structure:

Reporting to the Manager, with daily supervision from the Assistant Manager or Head/Duty Chef. You will be responsible for providing Front of House food and beverage service to customers, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.

Key Tasks:

· Food and Beverage Service: Serve food and drinks to customers, including mixing beverages and preparing cocktails.

· Support for Events: Be present during events and assist with preparation before and during the event.

· Flexibility: Adapt to changes in shift schedules and take on additional hours when required.

· Stock Management: Ensure stock levels are maintained, including food, drinks, and other supplies.

· Sales: Promote and sell Jerkiz products (food and drinks) to customers.

· Cleanliness: Maintain high cleanliness standards throughout the shift, including clearing tables, washing utensils, and ensuring all areas meet hygiene requirements.

· Kitchen Support: Assist the chef with food preparation, dish presentation, and general kitchen tasks when needed.

· Customer Interaction: Greet, serve, and assist customers, ensuring a friendly and professional experience.

· Health and Safety: Comply with all health, safety, and food handling regulations.

· Cash Handling: Process transactions, balance receipts, and manage payments.

· Bar Duties: Stock the bar with necessary supplies, prepare drinks, check ID for alcohol purchases, and manage customer drinking behavior when necessary.

General Responsibilities:

· Organize your time and work independently without continuous supervision.

· Provide high-quality service and maintain the privacy of customers and colleagues.

· Follow cleaning schedules, ensuring the shop and front-of-house areas are always clean and organized.

· Observe all legislative health and hygiene practices in line with company policy.

· Comply with fire regulations and safety requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

· High School Certificate or equivalent.

· Level 2 Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).

· Ability to actively listen, be aware of customer needs, and maintain a high level of service.

· Ability to work under pressure and manage shifts independently when needed.

· Fluency in English for effective customer service.

· Prior experience in food and beverage service is preferred.

Working Hours:

Monday to Saturday: 9 am to 4 pm, 11 am to 5 pm, 4 pm to 9 pm.
Sunday: 12 pm to 9 pm.
Flexibility in shift schedules and overtime may be required.

Wages:

Under 18: £6.40 per hour.
18 to 20: £8.60 per hour.
Over 21: £11.44 per hour.
