What do you want from work?
Do you want your first role to just be answering phones and making tea?
Or do you want to be at the centre of a busy organisation, learning real professional skills that will set you up for your future career?
This role is reception based, but it is so much more than sitting behind a desk.
You are often the first person learners, employers and visitors will meet. The first voice they hear on the phone. The person helping direct people, solve problems and keep the organisation running smoothly.
But what makes this role exciting is the variety.
One minute you could be welcoming employers into the building. The next, supporting a tutor with administration. Then helping with learner records, booking rooms, organising documentation or supporting another department during a busy period.
And that is exactly why this role is such a brilliant starting point for someone wanting to build a professional career.
The Opportunity
As an Apprentice Business Administrator in reception, you will complete a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship while gaining hands on experience across multiple areas of the business.
You will work closely with different departments and gain insight into how a successful training provider operates.
This role gives you exposure to administration, customer service, safeguarding, compliance, facilities support and learner engagement.
You will support with:
- Welcoming visitors, learners and employers professionally
- Managing incoming calls and directing enquiries
- Supporting tutors and managers with administration tasks
- Maintaining learner and staff records
- Scanning and uploading documents securely
- Organising room bookings and meeting spaces
- Monitoring attendance queries and learner sign in processes
- Supporting with IT queries and equipment allocation
- Ordering stationery and supporting day to day site operations
You may provide administration support to any area of the company depending on business needs, which means you will gain valuable experience across many different functions and teams.
This is not a “sit quietly and follow instructions” type of apprenticeship.
We want someone who wants to get involved and make a difference to the organisation and own their own development.
As you develop, you will have opportunities to lead and support your own projects across different areas of the business. That could mean improving an internal process, coordinating an event, supporting learner engagement initiatives or helping departments solve operational challenges.
You will be trusted to take ownership, manage responsibilities and work towards outcomes with guidance and support around you, rather than simply being told every step along the way.
We want someone who enjoys thinking independently, bringing ideas forward and shaping things their way.
This is a role where you will learn quickly, build confidence and develop skills that will benefit you for the rest of your career.
Why This Role Matters
Behind every apprenticeship is a team making sure things run properly.
- Learners need support.
- Employers need communication.
- Colleagues need organisation.
- Visitors need a positive first impression.
This role helps create all of that.
You are part of the experience people have with Greenlight.
When learners feel welcomed and supported, they engage better.
When administration is organised, delivery runs smoothly.
When communication is professional, relationships grow stronger.
The role has purpose far beyond reception.
What You Will Bring
You do not need loads of experience.
What matters most is your attitude and desire to develop.
You will be someone who is:
- Friendly, professional and approachable
- Organised and reliable
- Confident speaking with different people
- Comfortable using computers and systems
- Willing to learn and get involved
- Able to manage different tasks throughout the day
- Live by our Greenlight Values
You may already have some experience in customer service, retail, hospitality or administration, but equally this could be your first step into a professional office environment.
Most importantly, you will want to learn, grow and be part of a team.
