Full job description

We are looking for friendly, approachable and reliable Visitor Welcome Assistants to join the team at Cotehele Estate near Plymouth.

This role is focused on creating a warm and positive first impression for all visitors. You will be part of the front-line team helping guests feel welcome, providing helpful information, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of a busy historic visitor attraction.

This position is suitable for students, part-time workers, seasonal staff or anyone looking for flexible hours in a customer-facing environment. Full-time opportunities may also be available depending on availability and site needs.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome visitors on arrival in a friendly and professional manner
Provide clear information about the house, gardens, estate, facilities, events and opening times
Support admissions and ticketing processes, including membership and general enquiries
Assist with visitor flow, queue management and entry point operations during busy periods
Respond to visitor questions in person, by phone or email in a helpful and professional way
Promote a positive visitor experience by offering directions, guidance and accessibility information
Support event days, seasonal activities and special openings when required
Help ensure reception and welcome areas are tidy, organised and well presented
Report visitor feedback, incidents, lost property or concerns to the duty manager
Work closely with colleagues, volunteers and wider site teams to ensure smooth daily operations
Follow health and safety, safeguarding and site procedures at all times

Skills & Experience

Friendly, confident and welcoming manner
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy visitor environment
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required
Customer service, hospitality, retail or tourism experience is helpful but not essential
Comfortable using basic computer systems or booking tools (training provided if needed)
A proactive and positive attitude with a genuine interest in helping visitors
