Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves overseeing all aspects of food preparation, ensuring high standards of food safety, and managing kitchen operations efficiently. The Head Chef will be instrumental in maintaining the restaurant’s reputation for quality home cooked traditional food and innovation while fostering a positive team environment.

Duties

Lead and supervise the kitchen team, ensuring smooth daily operations and high-quality food production
Develop and plan menus that reflect current trends and customer preferences
Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and excellence
Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs effectively
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food safety standards
Train and mentor staff to improve skills, efficiency, and teamwork
Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements as necessary
Uphold the restaurant’s standards for hospitality, serving, and overall guest satisfaction

Requirements

Proven management experience in a fast-paced culinary environment, preferably within a bar and restaurant setting
Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food production, preparation, and cooking techniques
Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing a diverse team of kitchen staff
Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
Strong knowledge of hospitality standards, including serving procedures and customer service excellence
Previous experience in restaurant or hospitality environments is essential
Passion for innovative cuisine and staying current with industry trends
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required
