Role Overview

Acedia Care are seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated individual, experienced in working with young people with learning disabilities, additional needs, and challenging behaviours. Your role within the organisation would be to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment for the young people in our care, supporting them with all aspects of their life. About Acedia Care

Acedia Care currently have two newly renovated solo children’s homes; one in Newcastle, and one in Gateshead. There is ample room for activities, exploration, and development of the young people in our care.

You would be part of a large staffing team, with the potential of the young person needing the assistance of multiple members of staff at once. We encourage the staffing team to be fully engaged with the day-to-day of the young peoples’ lives to support their development and provide them with a safe and loving home.

We currently offer a market leading rate of £16.00 per hour. Sleep-in allowances are also available of £75.00. We also offer career progression and 25 days annual leave (pro-rata respective of hours).

Key Responsibilities

Providing support and care to young people in a residential setting, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
Developing and implementing personalised care plans in collaboration and professionals.
Maintaining effective communication with children, families, and team members.
Driving young people to appointments, school, and activities as needed.
Utilising technology to document and report the day-to-day, ensuring excellent record keeping.
Demonstrating emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.
Participating in mandatory training, including, but not limited to, medication, fire safety, and safeguarding.
Working alongside the Home Management to ensure that the home is consistently running at the highest standard possible.
Assisting the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager with budgets, rotas, and team management.

Requirements

Experience supporting children in residential care.
Flexibility to work days and nights.
A “can-do” attitude.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to develop and learn new skills.
Manual UK driving licence.
Enhanced DBS certificate.
Valid sponsorship to work in the UK, if necessary (please be aware that sponsorship is not offered for this role).
