Role:

BCB is seeking a Engineering Lead in Cardiff to lead engineering maintenance operations, improve equipment reliability, and drive preventative maintenance strategies within a manufacturing environment. This role will support continuous improvement, reduce downtime, and lead a team of engineers to deliver safe, efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and develop the maintenance function, driving a proactive reliability-focused culture.
Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment performance.
Manage maintenance activities, reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions following equipment failures.
Work closely with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Engineering teams to optimise site performance.
Monitor maintenance KPIs, including uptime and planned versus reactive maintenance.
Manage spare parts, maintenance budgets, and improvement projects.
Support equipment installations, commissioning, and capital investment projects.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and statutory requirements.

Skills & Experience:

Proven experience managing maintenance operations within a manufacturing environment.
Multi-skilled engineering capability across mechanical and electrical disciplines.
Experience implementing preventative maintenance systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong understanding of health and safety compliance requirements.
Experience with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, influence, and develop teams.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to reliability improvement.
Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications & Attributes:

HNC/HND or apprenticeship-trained in an engineering discipline (essential).
Engineering degree desirable.
IOSH trained or willing to complete within 6 months.
Knowledge of compliance standards such as ATEX, DSEAR, PUWER, and Legionella desirable.
Safety-focused with a commitment to quality and operational excellence.
Confident leader with a hands-on, can-do approach.
Strong communicator able to work effectively across all levels of the business.
