An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Psychologist with a keen interest in neurodevelopmental conditions to join our Community Adult Autism Service (CAAS). The contract is 37.5hours permanent.

The team provides a multi-professional specialist service for autistic adults across the county of Dorset. The team provides a comprehensive range of services to include; diagnosis and assessment of autism, consultancy to existing teams on support and treatment, advice and signposting, andtraining for professionals. We comprise Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, a Nurse Specialist, another Assistant psychologist, and excellent Team Assistants/admin support.

It is essential that you have a Single Honours in Psychology at a 2:1 or higher from an accredited university. A good working knowledge, and experience of working with Neurodivergent Conditions is highly desirable.

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in completing triage assessments for new referrals, managing the database, completing specialist Theory of Mind assessments, audit, and the possibility of completing some therapeutic work with individuals and groups. You will also have a key role in contributing to the weekly MDT and consultations to other professionals. We offer weekly supervision with a qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist.

Our service is evolving in line with a new neurodevleopmental pathway — and you’ll be at the heart of shaping its future. Whether it’s refining pathways, co-producing resources with service users, or contributing to our 2yr quality improvement initiative , your voice will matter.

Currently the service offers a mixture of appointments either face-to-face or working remotely; the latter occurs primarily using video link or telephone to assess patients. A car is essential for this post.

The successful candidate will be required to be flexible in terms of willingness to travel as appointments are conducted across the County. There will be an equal focus on working in the West and East Dorset region, and use of own car for business use is essential.
