Overview:

The Lion Works School and The White House School provide specialist education for children and young people with a range of additional needs. We are seeking to appoint an Admissions Officer to support the continued growth and development of both schools. This is an exciting opportunity to join the organisation at a significant stage of expansion and to play an important role in supporting families throughout the admissions process.

Purpose of the Role:

The Admissions Officer will support the delivery of a professional, organised and family-centred admissions service across both schools.

As a key point of contact for prospective families, local authorities and external professionals, the post holder will help coordinate the admissions journey from initial enquiry through to transition into school life, ensuring high standards of communication, organisation and customer service throughout.

The role requires a proactive, welcoming and highly organised individual who is able to manage multiple enquiries, visits, meetings and administrative processes simultaneously whilst maintaining professionalism, confidentiality and attention to detail.

The Admissions Officer will work closely with the Head of Admissions & Marketing to support sustainable pupil recruitment, maintain accurate admissions records and contribute positively to the reputation and growth of the schools.

As Admission Officer, you will:

Act as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for prospective families, local authorities and external professionals.

Coordinate the admissions process from initial enquiry through to admission and transition into school life.

Develop and administer day-to-day aspects of the admissions process in collaboration with school leaders.

Respond to admissions enquiries in a timely, professional and supportive manner.

Coordinate and schedule school visits, tours, meetings, assessments and transition arrangements, ensuring a positive and well-organised experience for families and professionals.

Liaise with local authorities regarding consultations, referrals and the placement of children and young people with EHCPs.

Maintain regular communication with families and professionals throughout the admissions process.

Prepare, produce and distribute admissions documentation, letters, forms, information packs and offer communications.

Maintain accurate admissions records, pupil files and databases in line with data protection, confidentiality and safeguarding requirements.

Use the school’s Management Information System and admissions databases effectively to maintain accurate records and support reporting requirements.

Ensure data quality, accuracy and integrity are maintained at all times.

Manage the transfer and transition of pupil files from previous settings and support robust handover arrangements where pupils move to new placements.

Maintain archive records and ensure records are retained and destroyed in line with GDPR and statutory requirements.

Support the collection, monitoring and reporting of admissions and enquiry data, including pupil numbers and admissions trends.

Compile and issue relevant information for prospective families and professionals.

Work collaboratively with school staff to support smooth pupil transitions and positive family engagement.

Create a positive and supportive experience for pupils, parents and professionals throughout the admissions journey.

Support open events, transition activities and admissions-related meetings where required.

Participate in the school’s appraisal process and undertake relevant training and professional development opportunities.

Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others in line with school policies and procedures.

Promote equality, diversity and inclusion throughout all aspects of the role and wider school activities.

Ensure all admissions activity reflects safeguarding, confidentiality and professional standards.

Support open events and transition activities where required.
