Full job description

Job Introduction

The pay rate for this role will be £28,598 Band 5 (pro rata for part time colleagues) plus up £3197 to Recruitment & Retention payment.

Plus the ability to increase income by joining our 'Out of hours' rota.

Internal colleagues are also normally appointed at the bottom of the band, unless moving within the same profession and skill level, where the pay band is the same they can be appointed to the existing pay point.

BCP (Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole) Council’s Highway Delivery Team are looking for Skilled Highway Operatives to join us in the delivery of works including Routine Maintenance, Construction Schemes, Traffic Management, Winter Service provision and much more. Do you have experience in the following types of Highway Work and are committed to improving the public highway for our residents and visitors?

Experience in Highways Maintenance – patching, remedial repairs
Experience in Highways Construction/Resurfacing - Small and Major highway improvement schemes to the network
Experience in the deployment of Traffic Management on rural and urban roads, including high speed networks
Class C1 or Class C driver’s licence
Ability to remain calm and polite when engaging with members of the public

The successful candidates will operate from either Hatch Pond Road Depot in Poole or Southcote Road Depot in Bournemouth.
