Overview

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Shop Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent service to customers, assisting with merchandising, and ensuring the smooth operation of the shop. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, organisational abilities, and a friendly demeanour. Fluency in multiple languages, particularly English and Spanish, is highly desirable to effectively serve our diverse customer base. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to develop their retail skills within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and assist with their enquiries in a professional manner
Support merchandising activities, including stock organisation and presentation
Upsell products where appropriate to maximise sales opportunities
Handle transactions accurately using the till system and process payments efficiently
Maintain a clean and organised shop floor at all times
Manage stock levels, including replenishment and inventory checks
Provide information about products, promotions, and store policies
Utilise strong communication skills to engage with customers and team members effectively
Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when handling calls or enquiries
Manage time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed within scheduled shifts

Experience

Previous retail or customer service experience is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
Multilingual abilities, especially fluency in English and Spanish, are highly valued
Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts are required
Organisational skills to manage stock and maintain an orderly shop environment
Strong communication skills to interact confidently with customers and colleagues
Ability to demonstrate good time management and prioritise tasks efficiently
