Company Description

Working as a partnership, both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust have a shared vision for excellence in care for our patients and communities; with a set of strategic aims underpinning how we will achieve this.

The single corporate service is delivered across both organisations. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.

Job Description

NHS Band 7: Salary £49,387 - £56,515 per annum

Hours per Week: Full time 37.5

Fixed Term Contract: until 31st December 2027

Location: Your base location will be either IWT or PHU, with the option to work remotely up to 2 days a week.

Closing Date: 2nd August 2026 (vacancy may close earlier if sufficient applications received)

IWT and PHU Trusts have started a journey to share PHU’s in-house developed EPR in readiness for OneEPR. The Senior Development Specialist will be a key player in the Trusts strategic goal to converge to a single EPR. This will involve working with Product Owners to support new feature requests to assist with feature parity with IWTs current EPR.

Job summary

Design, build, test and deploy new features for in-house applications to align with IWT’s requirements (C# and .NET)
Engage with product owners to understand requirements and convert into User Stories as part of the Agile process
Stay current on new digital technologies and maintain an understanding of Trust-wide applications
Experience with Healthcare Integration is desirable

Specific Core Functions

Analyse, design, build, test and deploy applications and integrations on our technology stack:
- In-house applications
  - C#
  - MS SQL
  - .NET Core
  - ASP.NET MVC 5
  - React
  - ASP.NET Web Forms
  - Git
  - Azure DevOps
- Integration engine (desirable)
  - InterSystems Health Connect
  - ObjectScript
Applicants must have experience in either application development or integration development (both is desirable)

Qualifications

Essential

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience required

Experience

Database Experience: Ability to Read and Write complex SQL code Database Experience: Preferred: Microsoft SQL Server.
Verifiable experience with programming and scripting required.
Experience in a health care systems environment is desirable.
Demonstrable ability to work and communicate effectively with both technical and business audiences.

Skills & Knowledge

Must have proven applied knowledge in C# and SQL.
Must have proven applied knowledge in CI/CD pipeline management, such as Azure DevOps
Must have experience in managing change effectively
Must have experience in supporting operational issues under pressure
