Role Description
We’re looking for a passionate and motivated Services Lead to help drive and develop our services across Powys.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone ready to step into a multi-service leadership role, supporting short breaks, community-based provision, and outdoor programmes for young people with learning disabilities.
This role is not just about managing from behind a desk.
You’ll be:
- Leading from the front (60% in service, 40% operational)
- Supporting and developing teams
- Helping shape and grow services
- Making a real difference to young people’s lives
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing day-to-day leadership across multiple teams and services
- Ensuring safe, high-quality, person-centred care
- Supporting staff performance, supervision, and development
- Leading on rota planning, staffing resilience, and recruitment
- Supporting incident reviews, audits, and quality improvement
- Working collaboratively with managers, families, and external partners
- Supporting service growth and new developments
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience in health & social care (learning disabilities essential)
- Has leadership or supervisory experience
- Is confident supporting teams across different settings
- Understands safeguarding, care planning, and best practice
- Is organised, proactive, and solution-focused
- Leads with compassion, consistency, and confidence
You’ll be someone who is:

Qualifications
Essential:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent experience at this level)
- At least 3 years’ experience working with people with learning disabilities
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a care setting
- Strong understanding of:
- Safeguarding (children and/or adults)
- Care planning and risk assessment
- Person-centred approaches
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rota and work flexibly
Desirable:
- Working towards (or willingness to work towards) NVQ Level 4/5 in Leadership & Management
- Experience working across multiple services or teams
- Knowledge of:
- Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and DoLS
- CQC and/or CIW regulatory frameworks
- Experience in:
- Staff supervision, performance management, and recruitment
- Service development, audits, and quality improvement
