Cheshire East Council’s Occupational Therapy Service is seeking a full-time, experienced, and motivated Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Moving and Handling team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality care and providing strong clinical leadership within an innovative and supportive service.
As Clinical Lead, you will play a key role in shaping best practice, supporting staff development, and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred moving and handling interventions across the borough. You will hold a complex case load and work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders to drive service improvement and maintain high professional standards.
The post is based across the Cheshire East Borough. Cheshire East Council operates a ‘flexible and mobile’ working policy and hybrid working is available, with hubs available within the community and the bases at Delamere House and Macclesfield Town Hall.
About You
- Provide leadership and guidance to team members, supporting day-to-day decision-making and ensuring high standards of practice
- Provide clinical supervision, performance development reviews, and clinical leadership to the moving and handling team
- Manage a complex caseload, undertaking and overseeing assessments and interventions where there are high risk moving and handling needs, safeguarding considerations, or complex environmental and care planning challenges
- Demonstrate exemplary moving and handling knowledge and skills, including proportionate care implementation, training others, and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement
- Offer expert advice on Care Act responsibilities, Disabled Facilities Grants and assistive technology
- Support colleagues with triage, assessments, and interventions, including guidance on complex cases and risk management
- Work collaboratively with health and social care partners to develop innovative solutions that maintain safety and independence for service users
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation in line with Council policies and professional standards
- HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with substantial experience in health and social care settings.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, coach, and inspire others.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, strengths-based approach to care and a sound understanding of a wide range of conditions and their impact on daily living.
- Confidence in working autonomously while promoting collaborative working across multi-disciplinary teams.
