About this role

Full time ongoing position (part time considered)
Full time maximum term position up to 12 months (part time considered)
Salary range: $90,871 - $104,924 plus super
Up to $15,900 in salary packaging, flexible hybrid work arrangement

About the role
In this role, you will:

Appear as an advocate in various courts and tribunals.
Conduct casework and provide legal information and advice (including at outreach locations), to members of the public by appointment, phone or teleconference and via outreach visiting services, in family violence, family law and/or child protection and other related matters.
Participate in community legal education projects, law reform and other VLA projects

The Broadmeadows team provides legal services across criminal law, youth crime, family violence, family law, child protection and civil law. Legal services are provided across two Magistrates' Courts (Broadmeadows and Seymour), the Specialist Children's Court (Broadmeadows), the Mental Health Tribunal, the AAT, VCAT and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. Non-legal advocacy services are provided by a large team of Independent Mental Health Advocates are also based in the region. Broadmeadows is located in the City of Hume which is home to a diverse population. The city has a rich cultural heritage, with many residents from different ethnic backgrounds.

This role is based at our Broadmeadows office on Wurundjeri Country.

About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

Ability to represent clients in family law and family violence and/or child protection and other related matters as appropriate.
A current unrestricted Australian practising certificate that entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
Entitled to practise in federal courts and courts exercising federal jurisdiction (entry on the High Court's Register of Practitioners) (mandatory for family law)
High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, staff, and external stakeholders, handling sensitive and complex issues.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to a supportive team environment and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Commitment to delivering high-quality legal services and ensuring clients receive the support they need.
