Location: Diverse Gym, Preston – near Roman Way
Role: Full-Time

About Diverse Gym

Diverse Gym is an independent fitness facility in Preston offering much more than a traditional gym membership.

Our facility includes a large free-weights area, cardio and resistance zones, functional training space, dedicated class studio and Reformer Pilates studio.

We're now entering an exciting phase of growth, including the launch of our new physiotherapy service, and we're looking for an ambitious, energetic and commercially driven Sales & Fitness Manager to help us maximise the potential of the business.

The role will have a particular focus on growing our four core products:

Gym Memberships – our core membership offering
Reformer Pilates – dedicated Reformer Pilates classes within our specialist studio
Transform U – our results-focused group personal training programme
Physiotherapy – our new physiotherapy service for members and the wider community

The Role

This is a hands-on role combining fitness, sales, customer service and business development.

You'll be the driving force behind membership growth at Diverse Gym, responsible for generating and converting enquiries, increasing participation across our services and ensuring our members receive an outstanding experience.

We want someone who is comfortable both on the gym floor and on the phone closing a sale.

You'll actively engage with prospects and existing members, identify what they're looking to achieve and recommend the most appropriate Diverse Gym service.

You'll also be responsible for identifying opportunities to cross-sell between our four core products.

For example, a gym member may benefit from Reformer Pilates or Transform U, while someone visiting our physiotherapist could potentially become a long-term gym member.

Your goal will be to help us build a thriving fitness community while driving sustainable revenue growth across the business.

Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Growth

Drive new membership sales and achieve agreed monthly targets
Generate and convert enquiries across all four core products
Proactively promote Gym Memberships, Reformer Pilates, Transform U and Physiotherapy
Follow up new leads quickly and consistently
Conduct gym tours, consultations and membership appointments
Confidently sell over the telephone and face-to-face
Re-engage previous enquiries and former members
Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities
Develop local business partnerships and referral opportunities
Track leads, conversions, cancellations and revenue against agreed KPIs
Take ownership of achieving monthly sales and revenue targets

Fitness & Member Experience

Maintain a visible and approachable presence on the gym floor
Build strong relationships with members
Help new members feel comfortable and engaged from day one
Support members with their training and fitness goals
Deliver gym inductions and fitness consultations
Encourage members to participate in additional services where appropriate
Help create a positive, motivating and inclusive gym environment

Member Retention

Growing membership isn't just about bringing people through the door.

You'll also take ownership of keeping them.

This will include:

Monitoring member engagement
Proactively contacting disengaged members
Supporting new-member onboarding
Developing member challenges and engagement initiatives
Gathering feedback and identifying opportunities to improve the member experience
Reducing cancellations and improving overall membership retention

Marketing & Community

You'll work alongside our marketing team to turn marketing activity into enquiries, appointments and ultimately sales.

You'll also:

Support social media content from within the gym
Promote member success stories and transformations
Promote Reformer Pilates, Transform U and Physiotherapy
Help organise open days, challenges and promotional events
Build relationships with local businesses and organisations
Identify opportunities to increase Diverse Gym's presence within the local community

Gym Operations

You'll also help ensure Diverse Gym operates to a consistently high standard.

Responsibilities will include:

Maintaining excellent standards of gym presentation and cleanliness
Ensuring equipment remains operational and servicing is completed
Supporting the day-to-day running of the facility
Resolving member queries professionally and efficiently
Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed
Supporting and motivating the wider gym team

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, confident with people and passionate about fitness.

You'll ideally have:

Experience working within the fitness or leisure industry
A recognised fitness or Personal Training qualification
Strong sales skills and the confidence to ask for the sale
Experience working towards sales, membership or revenue targets
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Confidence speaking with prospects both face-to-face and over the telephone
A strong understanding of customer service and member retention
The ability to motivate and engage members
Good organisational skills
An understanding of social media and local marketing
A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership

Previous management or supervisory experience would be beneficial.

Above all, we're looking for someone with energy, personality and commercial drive who genuinely wants to help grow Diverse Gym.
