Location: Redmans of Preston, Preston Market

Job Type: Part-Time (Minimum 2 days per week, occasional Saturdays required)

Shift Hours: Generally from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Role Overview:
As a Deli Assistant at Redmans of Preston, you’ll be an essential part of our team, helping with customer service. This is a hands-on role involving some food preparation, customer interaction and general cleaning, with a variety of tasks each day. Our deli is a busy, fast-paced environment, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable handling multiple tasks, staying calm and maintaining high standards even during peak times. You’ll work closely with our team to ensure smooth daily operations, delivering high-quality products and exceptional service to our valued customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the preparation of basic items, sauces and other favourites by following set recipes.
Perform general food prep tasks, including slicing, dicing and other basic food preparation.
Prepare sandwiches and cook breakfast items on the griddle.
Adhering to strict food hygiene standards, date labelling and ensuring stock is properly rotated.

Customer Service:

Serving customers at the counter, taking orders, preparing sandwiches and breakfasts and providing friendly, attentive service.
Accurately fulfil online delivery orders through platforms such as JustEat and UberEats.

Cleaning & Maintenance:

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, dining, and service areas.
Regularly clean equipment, workstations and surfaces to ensure a safe, tidy environment.

Additional Duties:

Support the team with any other general tasks as required to ensure smooth operations at Redmans.

Working Hours:

Minimum of 2 days per week, this must include weekdays and Saturday.
Other shifts may be available and can be arranged according to your availability.
Shift Timing: Generally from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience: Previous experience in a customer-facing role is beneficial but not required. We will provide full training for the right person.

Skills:

Ability to follow recipes and instructions with attention to detail.
Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
Strong communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused attitude.
Comfortable using online platforms for order fulfilment.
Able to handle the demands of a fast-paced, busy environment.
Personal Attributes: Reliable, punctual, and ready to take on a variety of tasks. A good team player who is willing to jump in wherever needed.
