The Team
The Sky’s Anti-Piracy team sits at the forefront of protecting Sky’s content from the growing threat of digital piracy. This role offers the opportunity to combine digital forensics and incident response expertise with real-world investigations, helping to identify, analyse and disrupt piracy activity at scale. Working as part of a highly collaborative investigations team, you’ll play a key role in uncovering how piracy services operate across networks and server environments, contributing to meaningful action that protects both our content and our customers.
What You’ll Do
- Work within Sky’s Anti-Piracy team at the forefront of tackling digital piracy, one of the most significant threats to the UK’s creative industries, supporting the protection of high-value content across TV, film and music.
- Conduct advanced digital forensic and incident response (DFIR) activities, including the identification, acquisition, preservation and analysis of digital evidence from a range of sources such as endpoints, servers and network environments.
- Support investigations to attribute piracy activity to specific individuals or organised groups, using a combination of forensic techniques.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and law enforcement where required, balancing technical investigation, legal considerations and operational priorities to deliver effective outcomes.
- Contribute to the wider investigations function by documenting findings to evidential standards, producing clear reports, and supporting continuous improvement in DFIR capabilities, tools and methodologies within the Osterley-based team.
What You’ll Bring
- At least three years’ experience of digital forensic analysis of computers and mobile devices, within a public or private sector role. Cyber experience on top of these core requirements desirable.
- EnCE, MCFE, Cellebrite, ACE, GNFA, GBFA, GCFE or other relevant industry standard certifications / qualifications.
- Ability to work to ISO 17025 standards; experience of working in an accredited laboratory highly desirable.
- Have excellent knowledge of digital hardware, experience in different file systems & operating system artefacts.
- Must be able to work unsupervised and develop ad-hoc solutions to overcome operational issues when deployed independently on investigations.
- Be meticulous, methodical, have a highly analytical and enquiring mind.
- Excellent communication skills and able to convey complex technical issues to a lay audience in writing & verbally.
- Knowledge of Criminal Justice system requirements and obligations under PACE, CPIA, DPA, RIPA, Fraud and Copyright Legislation, investigative and disclosure procedures, awareness of exhibit handling, statement writing and evidence continuity / rules.
- Ability to effectively manage time, and individually prioritise multiple tasks of competing priority.
- Consistently demonstrates personal integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Confident, assertive, and professional in dealing with business, industry and other key stakeholders whilst working with sensitive information.
- Understanding or knowledge of Sky’s products and services and an awareness of current and possible future business trends and their potential impact on the company.
- Work independently yet effectively within a team of experienced professionals.
What you’ll bring
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience using forensic tools and techniques to examine and evaluate digital or physical evidence in support of fraud, piracy, or internal investigations.
- Demonstrable capability to conduct on-scene network forensics and forensic data captures.
- Strong ability to produce clear, accurate investigation reports and formal statements suitable for criminal and civil proceedings.
- Working knowledge of ISO 17025 standards, with experience supporting implementation and ongoing compliance.
- Ability to carry out investigative tasks under direction, showing sound judgement and adherence to established forensic processes.
- Evidence of building and maintaining effective working relationships with partner agencies and external organisations.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining up-to-date industry knowledge and training.
Willingness and flexibility to travel across the UK, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland in support of operational and law enforcement activity.

Desirable Criteria
- Experience in Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) across corporate, law enforcement or consultancy environments.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, protocols) with the ability to analyse network traffic and logs.
- Hands-on experience investigating Windows and/or Linux server environments, including evidence acquisition and analysis.
Familiarity with DFIR and security tooling such as SIEM, EDR, and network analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark)

We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 3 days in the office per week.
