Who are we?

Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd is a family run business owned and run by the Smith family since 1982. Smiths has grown from a single owner-operated plant hire company to a multifaceted group with family values still firmly at the heart of each project undertaken. With depots in Avonmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester, Stonehouse and Tewkesbury we operate predominately across the South-West of England. We specialise in Construction, Waste Management, Plant Hire, Demolition and Transport operations.

What are we looking for?

We are currently seeking a proactive, customer-focused individual to join our fast-paced administration team at our Gloucester Waste Management office. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for our customers, handling incoming orders and enquiries, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring a seamless, high-quality service experience from start to finish.

The successful candidate will either have previous experience in waste management administration or a proven track record in a high-volume customer service or administrative role. If you enjoy working as part of a team, take pride in delivering excellent customer service, and thrive in a busy administrative environment, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

The role will be based at main waste facility in Moreton Valence - Gloucester.

Hours: Monday - Friday 07:30am - 4.30pm

One in four Saturday Mornings - 08:00am - 12:00pm

Responsibilities for the job role:

Managing a high volume of customer enquiries via phone and email, consistently delivering excellent service standards
Processing customer orders using a booking system and liaising with third-party suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery
Working closely with Operations teams to monitor stock levels and ensure customer requirements are met
Arranging skip road licences through the relevant local authorities
Providing administrative support to the Sales and Commercial teams within the Waste Management division
Investigating and resolving invoice queries, and processing approved credits in a timely manner
Preparing operational reports for senior management as required
Continuously reviewing administrative processes and systems, contributing ideas and supporting improvements where needed
