Technical & Pre-Construction Manager

Location: Ratby Leicestershire

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Technical & Pre-Construction Manager to join our growing group of manufacturing and installation businesses. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in estimating, technical drawings, procurement, and production preparation who is looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in a rapidly expanding organisation.

Initially, the role will focus on working closely with the sales team to review enquiries and customer requirements, produce technical drawings, coordinate production schedules, and support procurement activities alongside the Production Director.

The successful candidate will act as the critical link between sales, technical, procurement, and production teams, ensuring projects progress smoothly from enquiry through to manufacture and installation.

About the Business

Our group currently operates a successful timber manufacturing business alongside an established installation division. As part of our ambitious growth plans, we are hoping to expand into new areas including:

Double-glazed unit manufacturing
uPVC window and door production
Aluminium window and door production
Specialist fire door products and systems

This role offers the unique opportunity to help shape these developments, implement new products and systems, and contribute to the future direction of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Review customer enquiries, specifications, and technical requirements.
Produce accurate technical drawings and manufacturing information.
Prepare quotations and cost estimates.
Coordinate production batches and manufacturing schedules.
Support procurement activities and supplier coordination.
Liaise with sales, production, installation, and management teams.
Ensure orders are processed accurately and efficiently.
Assist in the development and implementation of new products and manufacturing systems.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Over time, take responsibility for leading the Technical Department and overseeing estimating and order processing operations.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is:

Experienced in estimating, technical design, manufacturing preparation, or a similar role.
Able to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Commercially aware with strong attention to detail.
Organised and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
An effective communicator who can work across different departments.
Proactive, committed, and eager to develop their career.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Experienced within the timber, glazing, fenestration, construction, or manufacturing sectors (desirable but not essential).
