Full job description

Birmingham and Sandwell – Full‑time

We are a busy, friendly veterinary practice looking for a reliable, considerate and people‑focused individual to join our reception team.

This is a fast‑paced, client‑facing role where you will be the first point of contact for owners who may be anxious, upset or frustrated. You will need to be able to communicate clearly and enjoy helping people. We are seeking individuals who are calm, organised, emotionally resilient, considerate and able to remain warm and professional during busy or challenging situations.

No previous receptionist experience is required as full training will be provided. We are looking for individuals eager to learn our specific approach to client care. You may be required to work at any of our surgeries so having your own transport is essential.

About the role

Responsibilities include:

Welcoming clients to the surgery and handling face‑to‑face enquiries.
Answering phones and responding to emails.
Supporting clients who may be distressed, angry or worried.
Assisting other members of staff to provide the best standard of client service.

We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

· is naturally warm, polite and considerate,

· is observant, organised, able to multitask and calm under pressure,

· has clear spoken English, good written English and good basic maths ability,

· is reliable, punctual and keen to learn,

· enjoys helping people and working closely with a team.

This role would not suit someone who prefers solitary work, dislikes frequent interaction with the public or struggles in busy environments.

Remuneration package

Basic pay is from £26,700 plus a range of benefits.
