Full job description

Reports To: HSE Officer

Department: HSE

Contract Type: Permanent

Employment Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours p/w)

Purpose/Brief Description:

Assisting with all inspections, recording, reviewing, monitoring and coordination within the Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality department including further development and the maintenance of our current systems.

This role and involves continual personal development to maintain professional standing, learning, and understanding of regulations and legislation.

Description of the Role (this list is dynamic and not exhaustive)

Supporting with the HSEQ communication and engagement strategy across various media and teams.
Reviewing and maintaining relevant safe systems of work and current processes and procedures.
Auditing Service RAMS via aims and updating where necessary.
Developing SSoW for high-risk specialist situations/tasks.
Assisting with sourcing, booking, and scheduling internal and external training across a variety of teams.
Maintaining the company training records including reviewing / monitoring service engineer & delivery team competence.
Continually reviewing and recording subcontract competencies.
Being actively involved in various HSEQ meetings company wide including service monthly huddles.
Updating H&S inspection schedules.
Carrying out on-site CDM inspections UK wide (area specific depending on location of home, however some further distance travelling may be required periodically in busy periods).
Auditing Service Engineers in the field reporting observations and advising opportunities for improvement.
Setting up online inductions with Clients.
Reviewing and developing our current communications library (TBT, bulletins, Site Coms etc)
Maintaining communication records including the company’s toolbox talks library.
Assisting in managing the HSE email inbox.
Support with the review and management of documentation within our legal compliance system/integrated management system.
Maintaining the office first aid and fire safety provisions and maintenance registers, booking repairs, and arranging services.
Assisting in recording, completing, and scheduling pre-qualification questionnaires.
Providing document control and process map support across the business to further develop the companies integrated management system and company safe systems of work and ensuring documents are relevant and the correct revisions are being used.
Assisting the HSEQ team in collating and recording evidence for third party audits in line with ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 accreditations.
Recording and investigating H&S incidents including accidents and near misses including witness interview notes, recording, and analysing root causes together with the HSEQ Manager.
Raising non-conformance and behavioural issues to the HSEQ Manager in a timely manner.
Helping to develop and implement the company health and wellbeing programme and raising marketing briefings.
Ensure all relevant health, safety records (e.g. risk assessments, non-conformance reports, incident registers etc.) are revised and revisions updated as and when necessary.
Receiving, recording, and reviewing site paperwork bringing non-conformances and concerns to the attention of the HSEQ Manager and assisting NC close outs and end of month reporting.
Liaising with Clients and Subcontractors for receipt, reviewing and recording of mandatory documents.
Assisting in the requirement identification, issue, stock control and recording of PPE.
Assisting in the annual completion of accreditation qualification questionnaires and evidence collating on various portals.
Issuing site H&S Files liaising with the Project Engineer to ensure these are briefed and the mandatory forms are recorded and chasing any missing information.
Supporting the wider team in locating and completing training on various mandatory forms.

About you:

The role of a HSEQ Officer is very diverse, and you will be required to hit the ground running with enthusiasm.

You will need to be approachable, fair but firm, have first-class administrative and IT skills with good time organisation and efficiency.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written along with a good standard of general education and a good awareness of Health and Safety legislation is essential.

Also, due to the majority of our work being carried out on live construction sites, at least 3 years previous experience in a similar role capacity with subcontract and CDM understanding would be preferred.

An approachable personality and the ability to communicate and work with people of varying levels of hierarchy within the business and externally is essential.

Document Management experience within a formal system such as ISO45001 / 9001 / 14001 would be an advantage.

You will need to be proficient in different systems and platforms and passionate about the health and safety of others with compassion.
