Who are we?
Warcradle Studios Is a passionate, cutting-edge creative studio that designs, publishes, and brings immersive tabletop miniature games to life. From globally renowned universes like the Dystopian Age to exciting new original franchises, our incredible team of creatives works at the forefront of hobby innovation.
Summary of role
Warcradle is our in-house tabletop and wargaming development studio and they are looking for a digitally savvy, highly communicative Community Manager to champion our global player base and supercharge our elite volunteer vanguard: The Warhosts Programme. You will be the vital bridge connecting The Warcradle Studios team with the community, nurturing positive online spaces for hits like Dystopian Wars and Armoured Clash. Crucially, you will oversee the recruitment, activation, and management of our Warhosts—the dedicated tournament organisers and dynamic demonstrators who drive grassroots growth in local gaming stores worldwide.
Key Responsibilities & Day-to-Day Expectations
- Multi-Channel Community Architecture: Manage, moderate, and grow our presence across Discord, Facebook Groups, official forums, and social media channels. Maintain a constructive, welcoming, and hype-filled environment.
- Warhosts Programme Stewardship: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of our Warhosts. Review global applications, onboard new volunteers, track their local event activity, and distribute prize support, tournament kits, and demo assets.
- Warhost Outreach: Help facilitate relationships between Warhosts and game stores, with the goal of arranging game demos in both stores that already stock our games, and those that are interested.
- Store Event Ideation: Working with the Warhosts, Marketing, and store staff to create interesting event ideas to engage the existing community and recruit new players.
- Convention Events: Liaise with the Group Events Manager to aid in the running of events with Warhosts.
- Content & Narrative Generation: Write engaging community blogs, newsletters, and designer diaries. Showcase player-painted armies, highlight standout Warhost events, and generate excitement for upcoming releases.
- The Sentiment Feedback Loop: Actively monitor forums and social channels for player feedback regarding game balance, rules questions, and product sentiment. Synthesize this data into clear, objective weekly reports for the studio design team.
- Crisis Mitigation & Moderation: Enforce community guidelines firmly but politely, defusing toxic behaviour or internet drama before it escalates, protecting the integrity of our studio brands.
A Typical Day Includes:
- Spending the first hour interacting directly with players on the Warcradle Discord, answering queries, and highlighting community paint jobs.
- Meeting with the Warcradle Marketing team to pass over community highlights to be featured on our social media.
- Reviewing and approving ten new global Warhost applications, verifying their links with friendly local game stores (FLGS).
- Writing a detailed blog post detailing a Warhost-led tournament success story in Europe.
- Meeting with the Dystopian Wars design team to deliver a structured summary of community feedback on the latest rules errata.
Performance Measures (KPIs):
- Warhost Programme Growth: Net increase in active, verified Warhosts running monthly local events globally.
- Community Engagement Rate: Measurable growth in active participation (posts, replies, member retention) across official Discord and social platforms.
- Response Time: Maintaining an efficient response window for community inquiries and Warhost kit requests.
Requirements & Technical Skills
- Experience: Community management, volunteer coordination, or digital player support (ideally within miniature wargaming, CCGs, or board gaming).
- Deep Hobby Literacy: You must be an active wargamer. You need to intimately understand tournament structures, local gaming store culture, and the nuances of volunteer programme philosophy.
- Platform Mastery: Advanced knowledge of Discord architecture (bots, roles, moderation tools), Facebook Group management, and mainstream social media analytics.
- Communication: Exceptional written communication with a talent for balancing brand-authoritative statements with a casual, enthusiast-friendly tone.
- Time Management: Able to manage a workflow consisting of BAU and projects, and oversee a yearly calendar of Warhost events and conventions.
